Personally, having grown up down the Jersey Shore, Greg wished that he had a better reel lube as a kid. Yes, of course he earned his share of fishing tournament trophies, but there are vivid memories of excessive friction on my go-to Abu-Garcia reel, not to mention the occasional bird's nest. The same issues came up with our Penn trolling reels - very reliable, but you could feel the grinding from buildup and wear. Saltwater conditions aren't forgiving.
Depending on the reel parts you are applying lube to, grease or oil will enhance performance, especially after pre-treating surfaces with cleaner degreaser. Wishing you tight lines.
